Botetourt County has posted its 2026 curbside recycling collection calendars on the county website, providing residents with updated information on pickup schedules for the coming year. The county partners with Recycling & Disposal Solutions to provide curbside recycling service, and residents are encouraged to review the calendars to confirm their designated collection dates.

County officials note that the recycling program is part of Botetourt Goes Green, an ongoing effort by local government offices to conserve natural resources and reduce environmental impacts. Environmental stewardship is emphasized in the county’s Comprehensive Plan, which promotes a high standard of environmental protection and maintenance while encouraging conservation easements and development practices that minimize negative effects on the environment.

In addition to curbside collection, Botetourt County offers multiple recycling options for residents. Information on where to recycle, what materials are accepted, commercial recycling opportunities, and curbside collection details is available through the county’s Recycling section online. Residents with questions about recyclable materials or alternative drop-off locations can find additional guidance there.

Several private haulers provide recycling services in Botetourt County, each with its own 2026 collection schedule. These include GFL, Kelley’s Garbage Collection, Kessler, and WasteCo. Most providers collect recycling every other week, while Kelley’s Garbage Collection offers weekly recycling service.

Residents also have access to drop-off recycling options throughout the county. GFL’s Convenience Center in Cloverdale features a single-stream compactor that accepts cardboard, plastic, paper, and glass. The site also accepts metal, yard waste, and tires for recycling. In addition, several Botetourt County Public School locations serve as community recycling centers, allowing residents to recycle paper, plastic, aluminum, and tin cans at participating schools.

Participation in the county’s recycling program requires the use of clear plastic bags. These bags are available at a variety of local retailers, including Kroger, Walmart, Lowe’s, Food Lion, and Northwest Hardware. County officials expressed appreciation to local merchants for making the required bags readily available to residents.
