Lord Botetourt senior Alisa Davidova finished second overall among 78 golfers in the Region 3D tournament Monday at the Draper Golf Course, hosted by Abingdon High School.
The tournament included 13 schools with just two qualifying for the Class 3 state tournament. Hidden Valley was the team champion with a 298 and Cave Spring was second at 306 as both south Roanoke County team advance to the state tournament on October 13 at the Cutalong Golf Course, located at the Tributer Resort in Mineral, Va.
Host Abingdon finished third with a 314, just one stroke ahead of LB’s 315. Davidova led LB with a 74 followed by Derek Bond at 76, Jonah Dunker at 82 and Cole Cecil at 83.
The top four individuals not on Hidden Valley or Cave Spring teams also qualified for the state and Davidova was second overall behind medalist Harris Camp of Hidden Valley, who shot 67. Bond tied for third with three other golfers for the last two individual spots in the state, and a playoff ensued. It took three holes to decide the two spots but Bond did not advance.
Davidova, who recently committed to play college golf at Clemson University, will be the only representative from LB in the state tournament that includes both men’s and women’s players. Alisa and Bond both were named first team All-Region 3D.
