“I am excited to announce my candidacy for the 19th District of the Virginia House of Delegates. If elected, I will continue to focus on preserving conservative values and facilitating economic development in our district and throughout the region,” said Delegate Austin.

Delegate Austin

Austin was first elected in 2013 and has served three terms as Delegate of the 19th House District, which includes the counties of Alleghany, Bedford (part), Botetourt (part) and the City of Covington.

“As your Delegate, I will continue to represent your conservative values and protect your Second Amendment right to bear arms,” he said.

During his tenure, numerous major economic developments have taken place, resulting in hundreds of millions of dollars in investment and creating hundreds of new jobs in the 19th District.

“From WestRock’s $280 million announcement in Covington, to Eldor and Ballast Point’s respective decisions to base their east coast operations in Botetourt, it is clear that with thoughtful and measured foresight we have created an environment in which business wants to invest,” he said. “The wonderful education system we have in our region serves to bolster the attractiveness of the 19th to the business community and my commitment to focus on job creation will continue this positive trend of promoting gainful employment opportunity for the citizens of the 19th District.”

Austin was born and raised in Buchanan. He is president of Austin Electrical Construction Inc., a small business that specializes in airport runway lighting which he founded 46 years ago. Austin and his wife, Kathy have four children and 10 grandchildren. They reside in Buchanan.
