Joseph “Joe” Vito Di Palma, 72, of Buchanan, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, January 15, 2023.

Joe was a Christmas baby and a gift to all who knew him. Born to Vincent and Nell Di Palma of Port Chester, N.Y., he grew up as the second of six boys. A graduate of Syracuse University, Joe was gifted in accounting and information technology, and worked for Anchor Glass and then Roanoke Cement. For the last five years, he has been a solid presence at The Best Place Antiques in Buchanan, and has traveled this beautiful world with his “Princess Bride,” Diane.

For all of his life he was an avid Yankees fan, a lover of lasagna, and a master of the one-liner. Most of all, Joe lived for his Lord, his wife, his children, and his grandchildren. He was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, and Papaw.

He was preceded in death by his father Vincent. He left behind Diane, his loving wife of 40 years, and daughters Bethany (Alex) and Tali (Jon); sons, Devin, Joshua (Brigid), and Jordan (Kara); granddaughters, Emma, Lia, and Kinley Di Palma. He is also survived by his mother, Nell Di Palma; brothers Vin (Linda), John (Jean), Harry (Priscilla), Tom (Steph), and Paul (Helene); and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Joe was our calm in the storm, our rock, a godly husband and father. He leaves a huge hole in our lives. Love you forever Joe, Dad, Papaw.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, January 22 at 2 p.m. at the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home, 14920 Lee Highway, Buchanan. The family will receive friends before the service from 1-2 p.m. Online condolences may be made at www.botetourtfuneralhome.com or 540-254-3000.
