Ballots for the Botetourt/Craig/Roanoke Farm Service Agency County Committee election for two local administrative areas (LAAs) were counted on Thursday, Dec. 7, at the Bonsack USDA Service Center.
The 2017 election results are as follows:
LAA 3 – Craig County, Ann G. Harrell – COC Member, Newly Elected; John A. Hunter – First Alternate
LAA 4 – Roanoke County, J. David Poage – COC Member, Newly Elected
The 3-year term of office for these members will begin on January 1, 2018.
The current members of the Botetourt/Craig/Roanoke County FSA Committee are as follows for the 4 local administrative areas (LAA’s):
Patrick J. Rya Sr. – LAA 1 (Botetourt County – Fincastle/Eagle Rock)
Ned B. Jeter, II – LAA 2 (Botetourt County – Amsterdam/Buchanan)
- C. Winstead – LAA 3 (Craig County)
Carson L. King – LAA 4 (Roanoke County)
The Botetourt/Craig/Roanoke FSA County Office staff, the County Committee, and the Virginia FSA State Office and State Committee wish to thank J.C. Winstead and Carson L. King for their many years of dedicated service on the Botetourt/Craig/Roanoke FSA County Committee. Winstead and King, after serving three consecutive three-year terms (nine consecutive years), were not eligible for re-election in 2017. Winstead has served a total of 12 years in the FSA County Committee system and King has served 37 years.
Due to budget constraints, the FSA County Committee will meet once a month during the 2018 fiscal year on an as-needed basis. All County Committee meetings are open to the public. The next County Committee meeting will be held Thursday, Jan. 18, , at 10 a.m. An organizational meeting session in which members elect a County Committee chairperson and vice-chairperson will be held as the first order of business.
