Second Sunday Dinner
The Buchanan Town Improvement Society invites the community to gather with family and friends this Sunday, Sept.r 10 at the historic Wilson Warehouse/Community House for Second Sunday Dinner being served from noon until 2 p.m. September’s menu consists of ham, potatoes au gratin, Buchanan Blend mixed veggies, rolls and choice of dessert. Dine in and carry our are available for $10. Proceeds go towards preserving the historic Wilson Warehouse.
‘Sundaes on Sunday’ at Eagle Rock
The Eagle Rock Fire and Rescue Department is having “Sundaes on Sunday on Sunday, Sept. 10 from 3-6 p.m. Twelve toppings, whipped cream and cherries will be available. The members will also be serving hot fudge brownies and banana splits. The first scoop for sundaes is $2, and additional scoops are $1; hot fudge brownies are $5 and banana splits, $6.
Movie at the libraries
Botetourt County libraries will show the Walt Disney Studios film “The Bridge to Terabithia” in September. Jess Arrons and Leslie Burke create the secret kingdom of Terabithia in this fantasy-adventure filled with magic, friendship, and heart. The movie is rated PG and runs for 96 minutes.
Show times are: Tuesday, Sept. 12 at 2:45 – Eagle Rock; Thursday, Sept. 14 at 4– Blue Ridge; Tuesday, Sept. 19 at 4– Fincastle; and Thursday, Sept. 21 at 4– Buchanan. The movies are free and snacks will be provided.
Eagle Rock Library Book Sale in October
Eagle Rock Library is holding a Book Sale Thursday-Saturday, Oct. 19-21 at the library.
Hours are 1-7 p.m. on October 19, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on October 20 and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on October 21.
Vendors wanted for Eagle Rock Craft Fair
Friends of the Eagle Rock Library is seeking vendors for a Craft Fair that will be held at the library Saturday, Nov. 18. Vendor spots are $10. To reserve a spot or for more information, call 928-2800.

Back Porch Coffehouse returns Sept. 16
Trinity United Methodist announced The Back Porch Coffeehouse will resume this fall and begins on Saturday, Sept. 16 at 7:30 p.m. with performer Mike Franke.
Franke is a BMI recording artist with one CD released. He is a gifted singer/songwriter specializing in acoustic blues-based Americana.
He favors finger-style guitar picking, sometimes uses alternate tunings and slide guitar, and sings in a rich, baritone voice with a touch of grit.
Franke is the current president of the Southwest Virginia Songwriters Association and has been voted in the top three best local performers in the Roanoke.
The organizers will “pass the hat” for the performer.
Popcorn and coffee are free, desserts are available for a small price.
The coffeehouse is located in the lower level of Trinity Untied Methodist, Main Street, Buchanan.
