Two years ago on a cold, damp October morning, Billy and Rebekah Draper were setting up their booth as vendors in Buchanan’s annual Mountain Magic In Fall Festival. Ready to sell their handmade crafts and wares, little did they know that two years later, they would be hosting a ribbon cutting for their own shop on Main Street in downtown Buchanan this Saturday, Nov. 6 at 10 a.m.
Community Development Planner Harry Gleason said, “It is exciting to see the next generation of Buchanan entrepreneurs opening businesses in the town, and Faithful Country Creations ribbon cutting is the perfect kick off to the town’s “Open For Business” open house this Saturday.”
Gleason added, “Investors, entrepreneurs and the public are invited to view participating properties which are available for rent or sale, as well as take advantage of specials being offered by shops and restaurants throughout the town.”
Faithful Country Creations is a family-owned and -operated business located in the building many residents remember as Ralph & Carl’s or La Pizza. Faithful Country Creations features quality, handmade crafts, woodwork, candles, jewelry, Buchanan memorabilia, sun catchers and more. The entire inventory is crafted by the family, as well as local artisans, so inventory is always fresh with new merchandise arriving weekly. Customized items are available to order as well.
Having grown up in Botetourt County and attending James River High School, Billy and Rebekah are familiar with the community and its activities. After building a home and living in Buchanan for several years, Billy, Rebekah and children Michael and Deanna are entering upon their newest adventure, the opening of Faithful Country Creations. Following months of long hours renovating the property, the new shop is welcoming customers.
When asked about the process of establishing their business, Billy responded, “Rebekah and I are very blessed to have this opportunity, and the support thus far has been amazing. We look forward to being a part of and serving this community for many years to come.” They invite the public to shop online, as well as visit the shop in person. “If you have a special ‘wish’ item, let us know and we will work to accommodate your needs,” he said.
“The town is thrilled to welcome Faithful Country Creations to downtown Buchanan. We are thankful they chose Buchanan and look forward to shopping at this unique store with a variety of items,” said Town Manager Susan McCulloch.
Following the ribbon cutting, Faithful Country Creations will be open Thursdays, 12-5:30 p.m., Fridays, 12-7 p.m., Saturdays, 10 a.m.-7 p.m., and Sundays, 12-5 p.m., through the end of the year. Additional information about the shop and products can be found on their website at www.faithfulcountrycreations.com.
