Carolyn Dudley Ferguson, 93, of Buchanan, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 9, 2023.

Born August 27, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Darwin and Ruth Fitch Dudley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elwood Radcliffee Ferguson; sister, Malen D. Barger and her husband, Fred; her brother, Edwin F. Dudley and his wife, Lois.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Andrea and Charles Watts; sons and daughters-in-law, Eric and Michelle Ferguson and Brian and Michelle Ferguson; grandchildren, Brent Watts and wife, Vicky, Jason Watts and wife, Michelle, Melissa Ferguson and husband, Jason, Erica Ferguson and special friend, Billy Murphy, Adam Ferguson and special friend, Chelsea Hutton, Jonathan Ferguson, and Madelyn Ferguson; great-grandchildren, Victoria Watts, Brooks Ferguson, McKenna Watts, Chase Ferguson, Charlie Watts, and Travis Watts; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Carolyn was a talented pianist who shared her love of music with the community. For many years, you would find her playing on Sunday mornings at Arcadia Baptist Church. She also taught many children in her hometown of Buchanan to play the piano, instilling the qualities of pride and perseverance that could be found while earning a new skill. She was a faithful member of the Buchanan Baptist Church.

Carolyn was happiest at home surrounded by her ever growing family. Often the peaceful center of a room full of joy and laughter, she loved to share stories, songs, and the occasional joke followed by a small smile. She found great happiness spending time on her porch watching flowers, birds and other animals to come to life in the Spring.

We give many thanks to the staff at Richfield The Oaks Campus and the doctors and nurses of Carilion Roanoke Memorial 8 Mountain for their loving care.

The family requests that those wishing to honor Carolyn’s memory consider a donation to Special Olympics Virginia, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or the Buchanan Baptist Church.

Memorial services will be held in the Spring; however, those wishing to send a condolence please do so at www.botetourtfuneralhome.com.
