The Botetourt County Chamber of Commerce recently announced on social media that the annual First Bank Tinsel Trail will officially open this Friday, Dec. 5, in downtown Fincastle, marking the start of one of the community’s most anticipated holiday traditions.
Chamber representatives shared that tree decorators spent the day preparing the displays in advance of the grand opening. According to the announcement, the 2025 trail promises an especially memorable experience, with organizers praising the creativity and dedication of this year’s tree sponsors and decorators. Their efforts, the Chamber noted, help the event “shine year after year.”
The Opening Night celebration is scheduled for 6 p.m. in historic Fincastle. The Tinsel Trail, presented by First Bank— now in its sixth year as the event’s title sponsor— features 45 decorated trees designed by local businesses and organizations. The trees will remain on display throughout December for visitors to enjoy.
Opening Night activities will include live holiday music performed by Botetourt Music Academy, food and beverages from Firefly Food Co., appearances by Mr. and Mrs. Claus, and free hot chocolate. Additional family-friendly features include kids’ activities, “Snowfriends,” and a visit from the Fincastle Fire Truck. The event is free and open to the public.
Organizers encourage families to attend, explore the illuminated trail, and enjoy the festive atmosphere that has become a hallmark of the holiday season in Botetourt County.
