‘2 Floods, 40 Years, 1 Song’
“2 Floods, 40 Years, 1 Song” comes to the historic Buchanan Theatre on Saturday, Oct. 25. This special benefit concert and community commemoration marks the 40th anniversary of the devastating Flood of 1985 in Botetourt County, while raising funds for relief efforts in Kerrville, Texas, which recently endured catastrophic flooding.
The evening will feature a concert of modern folk, acoustic country, and roots-based songwriting. Nationally recognized touring artists Wes Collins and Andrew Delaney headline the event, joined by local performers Rob Fraim, Gary Marchesano, and Marie-Claire Evans.
Wes Collins is an acclaimed songwriter and recording artist with numerous albums to his credit and a national touring footprint. He is a winner of the Kerrville Folk Festival New Folk Competition and a recipient of the North Carolina Arts Council Fellowship, with additional honors as a finalist at Telluride, Serenade, and Wildflower. His performances are praised for warmth, humor, and lyrical depth.
Andrew Delaney is a prolific songwriter and recording artist with multiple albums and a wide touring reach. A grand-prize winner at both the Songwriter Serenade and Acorn Theater competitions, and a three-time Kerrville New Folk finalist, he is celebrated for his inventive storytelling, biting humor, and heartfelt craft.
The concert’s dual mission is both to honor the resilience of the Botetourt community, and to extend support to those struggling in Kerrville, Texas.
“Floods can wash away a lot,” says event organizer and performer Rob Fraim, “but music always brings people back together.”
