New Freedom Farm in Buchanan hosts its Fifth Annual Freedom Fest next weekend, April 22 and 23, from 11 a.m.-5 p.m., rain or shine. Daily entry is $8 (children 17 and under are free). The Freedom Fest fundraiser will feature a patriotic opening ceremony with T-6 Texan aircrafts flyover performing the Missing Man formation, Freedom Farm’s very own color guard, VA Highland VA Pipe and Drums, craft, and food vendors, over 150 auction items, live music, and national champion mustang trainer Mary Miller Jordan performing live at liberty with her wild mustangs. Tickets are available in advance at www.newfreedofarm.org.
“No matter what hardships we endure, we are strong enough to handle them AND they help us to become not only stronger, but more compassionate,” said Lois Dawn Magill, founder of New Freedom Farm and the organizer of Freedom Fest. “My life as I knew it changed forever in 2009 when someone I knew and loved committed suicide. He was a United States Marine veteran who suffered with the disease of addiction and was a hurting soul. Each and every day we must try to make a difference in our veterans’ lives – that’s ultimately what Freedom Fest is all about.”
