The Lord Botetourt and James River golf teams were both set to tee off in regional tournaments as the paper went to press this week.
Lord Botetourt was competing in the Region 3D tournament at Draper Valley in Pulaski County. The top two teams and top three individuals on those teams will advance to the state tournament at Stonehenge Golf and Country Club in Richmond on October 11.
James River was participating in the Region 2C tournament at the Olde Mill course in Carroll County Tuesday. The Class 2 state tournament will also be at Olde Mill on October 10.
The Knights had their last regular season match last Friday when they hosted Glenvar, Greenbrier East and Alleghany. Greenbrier won the round with a 324 followed by River at 342, Glenvar at 344 and Alleghany at 363. Ryan Steger had a 79 to lead the Knights.
