A suspect in three breaking and entering cases in Botetourt County has been arrested in Effingham County, Ga., according to Major John Mandeville with the Botetourt Sheriff’s Office.
Ricky Eugene Gillespie Jr., 39, of Goodview was stopped and arrested on Friday, June 21 in Effingham County while driving a stolen vehicle that was used during the Botetourt County incidents.
Botetourt County Sheriff Ronnie Sprinkle and Sgt. D.C. Dillow traveled to Effingham County on Tuesday, June 25 to follow up on the investigation. While there, they gathered evidence linking Gillespie to the June 19 break-ins and larcenies at Greenway Market and Clayton Mobile Homes in Cloverdale and Speedy I-81 Exxon in Buchanan.
Gillespie is currently being held on Effingham County charges in the Effingham County Jail with no bond. The Botetourt Sheriff’s Office has warrants on file for Gillespie for the June 19 incidents.
