Annual Halloweenies at Fincastle United Methodist Church
Halloween, Saturday, Oct. 31, will see the return of Halloweenies. That is the tongue-in-cheek label for the hordes of kids and tired parents who will find their way to Fincastle United Methodist’s Family Life Center that evening. They will be in search of the free hot dogs, treats and other goodies available that night.
The Town of Fincastle holds its Halloween Parade that evening which allows the costumed crowd to parade around town to be seen by assembled parents, neighbors and townsfolk. That event has been held for years and is very popular but it begins at 6:30 p.m., so many families may be skipping dinner.
Halloweenies runs from 6-8 p.m. and affords the children and their families a chance for a quick meal before or after the parade. All are welcome to drop by, even if only for a snack. Be sure to register for the door prizes.
Halloweenies takes place on the lower level of the Family Life Center, located at the corner of Academy and Church Streets in Fincastle. The restrooms are also located on the lower level in case hunger is not the only need at that point. “Your neighbors at Fincastle UMC are looking forward to your visit this Halloween. Drop by and re-supply!” a church spokesman said.
