The Botetourt County Historical Society, Inc., Muddy Squirrel, and Historic Fincastle, Inc. have announced the return of the annual Haunted History Walking Tour in Fincastle for 2024. This year’s event promises to be another year of exploration of the town’s rich and eerie past, offering both residents and visitors a unique opportunity to experience the darker side of Fincastle’s history.

Scheduled for Friday and Saturday, October 25 and 26, the tour will take participants on a journey through the historic streets of Fincastle, where local guides will share spine-tingling tales of ghostly encounters, mysterious happenings, and the folklore of those who once walked these very paths. The event is suitable for all ages, with special attention given to creating an engaging and family-friendly atmosphere.

Event Details:

  • Dates: Friday, October 25 and Saturday, October 26
  • Times: Tours start at 6 p.m. and depart every 30 minutes. The last tour will begin at 8 p.m.
  • Location: Tours will start from the Luster Building, located at the corner of Roanoke and Main Street
  • Tickets: Tickets are available for purchase online. Prices are $15 for adults, $10 for children (ages 12 and under)

“We are excited to partner with Muddy Squirrel for another year of the Haunted History Walking Tour,” said Lynsey Crantz Allie, executive director of the Botetourt County Historical Society. “Fincastle is a town full of history, and there’s no better way to experience it than through the stories of our past residents. This tour is a fantastic way for both locals and visitors to connect with our history in a fun and spooky way.”

BCHS and Muddy Squirrel are also grateful for the assistance provided by Historic Fincastle, Inc. for making some of the sites around the town accessible for the tour.

Participants are encouraged to dress warmly and wear comfortable walking shoes. The tour is expected to last about an hour and 20 minutes. The tour will proceed rain or shine, so come prepared for the weather.
