High School spring sports open next week

Virginia High School League spring sports are less than a week away as local teams practice and scrimmage to prepare for the coming season.

Monday is the first day for VHSL official competition and the season begins with James River at Salem in girls soccer. On Tuesday of next week Rockbridge is at River for baseball and the softball team is at Rockbridge.

Lord Botetourt has a full day of events to start the spring season on Tuesday, March 15. The baseball team is home to Patrick Henry and the softball team is at Salem. The boys soccer team is at Glenvar and both tennis teams play the Highlanders with the girls at GHS on Monday and the boys at the Glenvar courts on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, March 16, LB’s baseball team is in Lynchburg to play E.C. Glass. Both soccer teams play Brookville, with the boys at home and the girls on the road.

On Thursday, March 17, the James River baseball team will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a home game against Salem.
