Lord Botetourt opened football practice on July 28. The Cavaliers will scrimmage Dobyns-Bennett High School on August 11 at Emory & Henry College.

The first scrimmages of the fall sports season will be held this week, beginning with a volleyball scrimmage tonight in Daleville.

The Lord Botetourt girls will host Brookville tonight, Wednesday, in volleyball. The varsity and junior varsity will both host the Bees at 6 p.m. with the varsity in the main gym and the jayvees in the auxiliary gym.

On Thursday the Lord Botetourt football team will have their first scrimmage as they head to Emory & Henry University to take on Dobyns-Bennett High School of Tennessee. The controlled scrimmage will begin at 6 p.m. and Dobyns-Bennett usually has a strong team.

“They have luxury boxes in their stadium, if that tells you anything,” said LB coach Jamie Harless.

On Friday James River will host a controlled scrimmage against Staunton High School. They will begin at 6 p.m. and it’s free to the public.

Next week the James River volleyball team will host Bath County in a scrimmage on Tuesday with the jayvees at 5:30 p.m. and the varsity to follow at approximately 7 p.m. A week from today, on August 17, LB will conduct a volleyball jamboree.

On Friday, August 19, James River will host a football jamboree in Springwood and LB will scrimmage Jefferson Forest in Daleville at 6 p.m.
