The Botetourt County Historical Society (BCHS) has opened a new temporary exhibit highlighting the county’s agricultural heritage.
“Home Grown: Botetourt’s Agricultural History” opened June 15 and explores more than 250 years of farming traditions through artifacts, photographs, documents, oral histories, and interactive displays.
The exhibit features items from the society’s collection as well as loans from local families, including farm tools, dairy artifacts, creamery bottles, 4-H and FFA memorabilia, canning supplies, photographs, and items connected to Botetourt’s mills and canneries.
Visitors can also explore a new oral history initiative featuring interviews with Botetourt Century Farm owners. A slideshow of historic images from the Botetourt County Historical Society, The Fincastle Herald, and local residents further documents the county’s agricultural past.
The exhibit will remain on display through the end of 2026. Additional programs and special events are planned throughout the year.
