Six James River High School alumni were inducted into the James River High School Athletic Hall of Fame Friday at the school. The inductees also were introduced during halftime of the school’s football game. Those inducted are (from left) Sheila Proffit, coach and athletic director at JRHS for 45 years; Ethan Humphries, Class of 2010; Andrew Tucker, Class of 2010; Greer Sullivan, Class of 2008; Johnny Burrell, Class of 1996, and John Mays, Class of 1968. Tucker, who was unable to attend the induction dinner program before the football game, barely made it to the halftime recognition. He’s on active duty with the U.S. Marine Corps and arrived to a round of applause from the crowd just as he was being introduced when his parents, Paul and Terry Tucker, and sister Jill, were standing in for him with a large photograph in his uniform. Details about the inductees were in the October 4 Herald.
