Margaret “Dolly” Carter Ingram, 91, of Roanoke went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, December 6, 2022 in the comfort of her own home.
She was preceded by her parents, Joseph and Zula Kimball Carter; siblings, Emma Hall, Joe Carter Jr., William “Trimmy” Carter, Bobby Neil Carter, Junior Chittum, and James “Bud” Kimball.
Mrs. Ingram was a member of North Roanoke Baptist Church and the Honeybees Chapter of the Red Hat Society. She worked as a volunteer for 35 years at the Carilion Cancer Center; worked with the Cancer Society’s Relay for Life and volunteered with RAM House. Mrs. Ingram worked for the Botetourt school system as a bus driver, Special Education teacher, and cafeteria worker for many years.
Surviving is her husband of 65 years, Charles “Chuck” Ingram; son, Bruce Ingram (Kathy); daughters, Lynne Finney (Jackie), Donna Witt (Brian); grandchildren, Jeremy Ingram (Natalie), Morganne Rodgers (Shannon), Jason Witt, and Brianna Dooley (Caleb); her great-granddaughter, Scarlett Witt (who brought her many hours of pure joy), along with numerous other great-grandchildren; sisters, Mildred “Bill” Robertson and Betty Pruitt; numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Roanoke’s Carilion Cancer Center or the Building Fund, c/o North Roanoke Baptist Church.
Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, December 9, 2022 at Simpson Funeral Home by Pastors Daniel Palmer and Troy Mays. Interment was in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family received friends two hours prior to the service at Simpson Funeral Home.
