Jacobsen installed as Commander of Virginia’s VFW District 6

VFW Post’s 1841, Daleville, and Post 776, Radford, receive 100 percent Post Membership Awards at the recent VFW District 6 meeting. Jerry Jacobsen, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1841, was inducted as the next District Commander, District 6 of Virginia.

Jacobsen assumed command on May 21 and will replace outgoing District 6 Commander Frank Ware, VFW Post 5895.

Jacobsen served in the U.S. Army for three years, including one year in Vietnam. He was awarded the Bronze Star and Army Commendation Medal in the Vietnam combat zone and has resided in Botetourt County for 25 years.

Post 1841 meets the third Thursday each month at the VFW Hall a 4902 Roanoke Road, Daleville, and Post 5895 meets on the fourth Tuesday each month in the Buchanan Town Hall.

The VFW Posts would like combat veterans in Botetourt County to consider joining the VFW in continued service to the veteran community.
