Three James River High School athletes were chosen to Virginia High School League Class 2 All-State teams to officially wrap up the spring season. River had all-state choices in baseball, softball and girls soccer.
Heath Andrews, a junior in the spring, was named to the All-Class 2 team at shortstop from River. Heath was also named to the All-Region 2C team at both shortstop and pitcher. He was joined on the all-region first team by senior third baseman Jonas Wilkes and junior first baseman John Austin.
In the Three Rivers District, Andrews was named Player of the Year and River coach Matt Gouker was named the Coach of the Year. Heath was named first team at pitcher, shortstop and at large, while Austin was first team at first base.
Second team all-district Knights included Wilkes at third, Hunter Mays at second base and Zeal Hammons in the outfield.
In softball, junior Austyn Moran was a second team All-State pitcher in Class 2. Moran was also first team All-Region 2C and was joined on the first team by junior outfielder Jenna Pugh. Second team all-region selections from River included junior Kaycee Kincaid at catcher and sophomore Elly Lackey at utility.
In the Three Rivers District, Moran was a first team pitcher and district Player of the Year. Other first teamers were Kincaid, Lackey and Pugh, while second team choices were Lexi McCullough and Cloey Joynes in the infield and Ripley Barry in the outfield.
In girls soccer, River junior defender Natalie Hughes was named to the Class 2 All-State second team as well as the All-Region 2C first team. Senior midfielder Kayla Myers was also named to the all-region first team and two Knights were named to the second team, Ella Wright at forward and Konner Myers on defense.
First team All-Three Rivers District selections from James River included Hughes and Kayla Myers. Wright, forward Drew Whitson, and midfielders Ava Thacker and Haylee Harris are on the second team.
In boys soccer, James River had two first teamers on the All-Region 2C team. Junior Justin Hill made it at midfield and senior Nathan St. Clair was first team defense.
Hill and St. Clair were also named first team All-Three Rivers District, while second team honors went to senior Chase Cuddy at forward, senior Craig Bowyer at forward, junior Levi Miller at midfield and senior Hunter Forbes at defense.
