The James River swim team competed in the Class 2A, Region C swim meet at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center last Saturday. The boys took second and the girls were fifth in the region meet.

River will be taking 12 swimmers to the state meet in Richmond on Thursday of this week. Included are seniors Luke Martin and Brycen Ford, junior Landyn White, sophomores Caleb Meador and Megan Cox, and freshmen Dillon Minnix, Aaron Bridges, Sydney Wilson, Ellie Holter, Kelsi Hammons, Kayla Alford, and Vanessa Lima.

Region highlights for River included the following: Brycen Ford placed 1st in the 100 fly and 2nd in the 200 IM; Luke Martin placed 5th in the 50 free and 3rd in the 100 Free; Sydney Wilson placed 2nd in the 100 Fly and 5th in the 100 free; Megan Cox placed 2nd in the 500 free and 4th in the 200 free; Ellie Holter placed 4th in the 500 free and Caleb Meador placed 2nd in the 500 free and 5th in the 100 breast. The boys 400 free relay team was second and both 200 relay teams took thirds.
