The James River volleyball team is the top seed in the Three Rivers District tournament. If River makes it to the finals the Knights will host the championship game on Thursday night.

River comes into the tournament with a 17-5 record after ending the regular season with two district wins last week. The Knights beat Alleghany in Springwood in four sets after dropping the first set, 21-25 , 25-10, 25-18 and 25-18. On Thursday River won in five at Radford in a battle to the end, 20-25, 27-25, 25-23, 18-25 and 15-13.

The Three Rivers tournament opened Monday at the higher seeds, with River getting a bye. All the home teams won as fourth seeded Carroll County beat fifth seeded Glenvar in four sets, third seeded Radford beat Alleghany in three and second seeded Giles swept Floyd County.

The semifinals were Tuesday, with James River hosting Carroll County and Radford playing at Giles. The finals are Thursday, and if the Knights won on Tuesday they would host that match.

The Region 2C tournament will begin on Monday of next week.
