The Kiwanis Club of Botetourt County invites the community to the annual recycling event to be held on May 20 from 8 a.m. to noon at upper parking lot at Lord Botetourt High School.
There will be on-site document shredding truck, Goodwill Industries collection bins for small household goods and Botetourt County Citizen Convenience Center dumpster for electronics disposal.
Volunteers from the club, Bank of Botetourt and local library staff will be available to help receive the recycled goods.
The Botetourt County Library provides excellent resources to help promote early literacy skills. At this year’s event, donation will be accepted for the 1000 Things Before Kindergarten (1KTB4K). Reading, writing, singing, playing, and talking with your child helps young brains develop. Derived from the program, 1000 Books Before Kindergarten, 1KTB4K expands the concept to include STEAM and social/emotional behaviors, such as singing songs and nursery rhymes; playing peekaboo; dancing to music; playing with blocks; and counting aloud. Each year the program has grown, and last year more than 250 1KTB4K packets were provided to the community by the library.
