The James River cross country team ran at Randolph Park last Saturday on a rainy day in Dublin.
“The course itself has a lot of diversity with terrain,” said River coach Daphne Davidson. “There are hills and flat areas, but it also has a very nice wooded section. It is not an easy PR course. With that being said we still had one runner, Macy Weddle, who PR’d again with a 22:12.”
The James River boys’ team had two runners finish in the top 10 and the girls had three in the top ten. The Knights had one very close run down with Holly Weddle diving across the line in an attempt to pass the fifth place girl from George Wythe.
“According to the results she missed her by a tenth of a second, but it was definitely a photo finish,” said Davidson.
Both the boys’ and girls’ teams finished second overall. This week the Knights will run in the First Bank 5K in Fincastle.
