It was a rough week on the diamonds for the Lord Botetourt baseball and softball teams last week as the boys were rained out of two games and the girls probably wished they had been.

Botetourt’s boys were scheduled to play at Salem last Wednesday and at Blacksburg last Thursday but inclement weather postponed both games. The Cavaliers were hoping to host Staunton River on Tuesday of this week with a trip to Brookville on Wednesday. The boys came into the week at 2-2.

The girls got two games in, but they weren’t pretty. Botetourt was shut out at Christiansburg, 11-0, last Wednesday and dropped a 16-2 decision at home to Blacksburg a day later.

“Huge hiccup this week but we are hopeful to bounce back as strong as ever as we start district play this week,” said coach Megan Cook.

The girls dropped to 3-4 after the two losses and were scheduled to play at Staunton River on Tuesday of this week, then host William Byrd on Friday.
