LB boys finish tennis regular season undefeated

LB number one Tyler Meade is undefeated.

The Lord Botetourt boys tennis team defeated Franklin County Monday night, 9-0, to end the regular season with an undefeated record. LB finished 10-0 in Blue Ridge District matches and 16-0 overall.

Lord Botetourt has four boys who have yet to lose in singles matches this year. Number one Tyler Meade is undefeated as well as number two Conner Tilley, Ashton Bramblett and Jackson Wolfe. LB finished the regular season with a flourish, taking 9-0 wins over William Fleming, Northside, and Staunton River along with an 8-1 win at Salem.

The Cavaliers accomplished this despite not having home courts all season when Hollins University, the home site in recent years, decided not to let the LB players host matches on their campus just prior to the start of the season. The Cavaliers have played on the road all year.

The Cavaliers are scheduled to host Region 3D competition and that could be a problem. Roanoke College is a possible site, as RC has allowed the high schools to use their facility in the past and school is now out at the Salem school.

The Botetourt girls finished their regular season with 6-3 loss to Franklin County on Monday. Last week the girls lost to Salem, 9-0, but bounced back to beat Fleming, 5-2.
