The Region 3D tennis tournaments for team play opened on Saturday and Lord Botetourt had mixed results. The boys took a 5-4 win over Northside while the girls lost to Bassett, 6-3.
Playing at Hollins University, the boys split singles play with the Vikings as Tyler Meade won at one, Chase Dozier at four and Xavier Shelton at six. Meade and Ridge Radtke won at first doubles while Dozier and Jackson Wolfe won at two to give LB the win, advancing the Cavs to the semifinal round of play against second seeded Christiansburg.
Singles and doubles tournaments for both boys and girls will begin on Friday at Virginia Tech.
