Natalee Bowling contributed 14 points in a 78-29 win over Blacksburg.

The Lord Botetourt girls opened a three-game week with a 57-32 basketball win over Eastern Montgomery Monday, evening their record at 2-2 for the season.

Botetourt will have a busy schedule prior to Christmas. The Cavaliers were scheduled to play at Salem on Tuesday, and that was expected to be a challenge. The Spartans were the Class 4 state runners-up last year and return four of five starters from that team.

On Saturday LB is at Greenbrier East , followed by a home game against Blacksburg next Monday, Dec. 22. They’ll take a break for Christmas before returning to the court Dec. 30 for a home game against Abingdon.

On Monday in Daleville all nine Cavaliers scored against East Mont. Maggie Hoover led the way with 17 points and Addison Naff had 10.

Botetourt split two games last week. On Wednesday they hammered Blacksburg, 78-29, on the road. Hoover had a dream night for fantasy basketball leagues with 28 points, 10 rebounds, seven steals and six assists. Natalee Bowling added 14 points, seven boards and four assists and freshman Jadyn Deaner scored 10 points.

The girls played Turner Ashby on Friday and dropped a 35-29 decision to a strong Knights team. LB was down 21-8 at the half but battled back to make it a close game.

“They are a veteran team with two college signees,” said LB coach Renee Favaro.  “We just need to find a way to put together four quarters, especially against these experienced teams.  We are going to continue to face strong and senior-laden teams in our non-district schedule.  Although the result is not what we want, the fight is there and we are learning a lot about ourselves playing in these type of games.”
