The Lord Botetourt girls will be in Moneta Thursday to open the Region 3D softball tournament against Staunton River. The first pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
This will be LB’s third game against the Eagles, a Blue Ridge District rival. Botetourt beat Staunton River in Moneta, 3-1, but lost to the Eagles in Daleville, 10-3.
The Cavaliers come into the tournament at 11-11 after losing a close one to Franklin County in the Blue Ridge District tournament semifinal game in Rocky Mount. The Eagles walked off the Cavaliers, scoring on the last play of the game to take a 9-8 win.
“It went back and forth a few times throughout the game,” said LB coach Megan Cook. “Unfortunately we could not hold on to the lead to finish out the game.”
Callie Kidd and Abby Perkey had home runs for LB while Kidd, Perkey and Olivia Pierce had two hits each and Gracie Sargent stole two bases.
