The Lord Botetourt golfers shot a nine-hole score of 147 Monday to win the day and the regular season Blue Ridge District championship. The final round of district play was hosted by the Botetourt Golf & Swim Club after being postponed by inclement weather last week.
Botetourt won all six rounds of the BRD season tournament and finished with a season score of 1,354 over 81 total holes. Franklin County was second Monday at 168 and finished the season 104 strokes behind the Cavaliers. William Byrd was third, Northside was fourth, Staunton River was fifth and William Fleming did not have a full team.
LB’s Aiden Mitchell shot a two-under-par 33 Monday to win medalist honors at the BG&SC. Alisa Davidova was second with 34 and also scoring for LB were Jeremy Simmons and Garrett Honts with 40 each. Ethan Taylor had a 41 and Jaxon Turner carded 46.
Davidova won the individual regular season championship, finishing far ahead of second place Nick Messenger of Franklin County. Mitchell finished third, Simmons was fourth, Honts was seventh and Hayden Firestone, who did not play Monday, was eighth as LB took five of the top eight spots in the individual race.
The Blue Ridge District tournament was scheduled for Tuesday at Copper Cove but more bad weather was in the forecast. After that Draper Valley will host 13 Region 3D teams for the region tournament next Tuesday, Oct. 1. The top two teams in that tournament move on to states as well as the top three individuals not on those two teams. The Class 3 state tournament will be at Heritage Oaks in Harrisonburg on October 15.
