The Lord Botetourt girls remained undefeated in Blue Ridge District softball games with two more wins last week, defeating William Byrd and Northside.

LB took an 11-8 win over Byrd on April 12. The Cavaliers jumped all over the Terriers with six runs in the first inning. LB had 11 on the board after three innings before the Terriers mounted a comeback.

“Unfortunately, we couldn’t tack on any more after the third inning but, luckily, our defense and lead were enough to keep the Terriers at bay,” said LB coach Megan DeHart.

Mikayla Reed was two-for-three at the plate and Gianna Sloan-Lebron and Rhyann Jones had two runs batted in each for the victorious Cavaliers.

On Thursday at Northside, Jones pitched a complete game shutout for a 3-0 win over the Vikings. Rhyann struck out 13 and played her position well in the circle.

Hadley Evans, Autumn Russell, Makena Shupe, Sloan-Lebron, and Jones all had one hit each in a balanced attack.

“I am so proud of the strength these girls showed in a rivalry match that is always anticipated,” said DeHart. “Baylee Compton pitched an impressive game for the Vikings and required our hitters to become more resilient.”

The win lifted LB to 6-1 overall. The girls were scheduled to play a doubleheader at William Fleming on Tuesday followed by a home game with Hidden Valley today. On Friday the Cavaliers will host James River at 5:30 p.m. in a game that was previously postponed.
