The Lord Botetourt softball team saw their season come to an end at Ridgeway last Thursday with a loss in the opening round of the Region 3D tournament. The Cavaliers dropped a 7-5 decision to host Magna Vista.
“It was back and forth toward the beginning of the game but, unfortunately, we could not get our bats going on a consistent basis,” said LB coach Megan Cook.
LB’s two seniors went out with a big game. Maya Mougin had two hits and drove in two runs, and Autumn Russell, the Blue Ridge District Player of the Year, had a home run. The Cavaliers finished the season with an 8-14 record.
“We really wanted to spend more time together as a team and give our seniors a long run but it just didn’t go in our favor this year,” said Cook. “We will miss the leadership, determination and passion that our seniors brought to the team every day.”
