The Lord Botetourt boys and girls tennis teams, as well as singles and doubles, have been playing in the Region 3D tournaments.

The girls have qualified for the Class 3 state tournament as a team. They opened with a 9-0 win over Magna Vista, then beat Cave Spring, 5-0, in the semis last Thursday. They lost in the region final to Abingdon, 5-0, but qualified for a state match this Friday against an opponent to be determined.

The Cavalier girls singles and doubles lost on Monday. Reagan Meade lost to Christiansburg in the quarterfinals in singles and Reagan and Elaina Brown lost to Hidden Valley in the quarterfinals of the doubles tournament.

The boys lost their team opener to Hidden Valley, 5-1, but the Cavalier singles and doubles have advanced. Ethan Steryous, the number one seed in singles, won his opening match 6-0, 6-0 against Bassett, then won his semi-final match against Keaton Bartley of Hidden Valley, 6-2, 6-3. Ethan was scheduled to play in the singles championship against Cave Spring on Tuesday.

Steryous and Davis Kidd, the second seeded doubles team, beat the William Byrd doubles and were scheduled to play Magna Vista on Tuesday. Ethan and Davis are both freshmen.
