The Lord Botetourt and James River track teams will have two meets this week, including a meet today in Daleville.

The LB boys and girls and James River will be running today in a six-team meet on the new Lord Botetourt High track. Both the Cavaliers and Knights will also run this Saturday in a larger meet hosted by Hidden Valley High School. Field events are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. with running events at 10 a.m. on the Titans’ track.

Both schools were in meets last week. James River competed in the Buffalo Invitational at Floyd County High School on Friday and Naveah VanBuren had a big day. She won the discus and triple jump, took fourth in the long jump and sixth in the high jump. Emma Bobbitt was third in the discus and fourth in the shot put.

For the River boys, Jayden Alston was sixth in the shot and Jack Beheler took sixth in the discus.

The LB girls competed in a meet at Northside High Saturday in the Northside Invitational. Jillian Harris won the 100-meter hurdles while Ratie Jensen was third. Anne Thorne took second in the 1,600 and in the 100 meters Elizabeth Meadows was eighth, Riley Shupe was ninth and Annalise Coon was 11th. The LB 4×800 relay took fourth.

The LB boys team was in Abingdon Saturday to compete in the Grasshoppers LLC Abingdon Invitational. Ethan Thorne won the 1,600 and Caleb Miller won the 110 hurdles.

In the 100, Zion Woody was fourth and Quinten Jones took sixth. Triston Graves was second in the 300 hurdles, third in the 110 hurdles and sixth in the 200. Miller was third in the 300 hurdles as the boys took fourth in the meet.

“And what topped it off is I got to see my mom,” said LB coach Jamie Harless, who grew up in Abingdon.
