The Lord Botetourt girls were 13th and the boys finished 17th in the Virginia High School League Class 3 state swim meet at the SwimRVA facility in Richmond last week. Western Albemarle swept the team championships.
Botetourt junior Max Mizuba won the state championship in the backstroke with a time of 51.2. Max also took sixth in the 200 IM in 1:56.87.
For the girls, junior Julia Misicko was eight in the 100 butterfly with a time of 59.72.
Botetourt had nine swimmers compete in the state meet in addition to Mizuba and Misicko. Lucas Dehr, Landon Sharp and Noah Fredrickson swam for the LB boys and Olivia Nicely, Annalise Buyalos, Harper Klein and Callie Shuler from the girls’ team all swam in Richmond.
