Thrasher grateful for successful fundraiser
I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who donated their time and hard work and gave donations towards making the fundraiser held for me during my fight against throat cancer a success. Your generous support during this challenging time is an unwavering expression of love and community that will never be forgotten. There are so many people that made this fundraiser a success from raffle prizes, food, and their time, which is a true testament of what it means to be part of such an amazing community.

George thanks campaign supporters
With the official count now complete for the Amsterdam District Board of Supervisors seat, I offer sincere best wishes to the supervisor-elect, Tim Snyder. My bid for this position was always larger than any single individual’s ambition, it was a collective push to ensure more voices have a place in decision-making. We came together to address the pressing challenges in our area and to take a stand against the overdevelopment of our county; prioritize spending for schools and infrastructure; protect historical sites; and reduce the high taxes. Our agenda proposed tangible steps forward, intending to preserve the small town feeling while keeping the natural beauty that gives Botetourt County its unique charm. Despite falling short, the dialogues we had with our community revealed that these concerns touch the core of our daily lives.
The enduring gift from this race is the surge of commitment from those around me. In recent weeks, countless residents welcomed us into their homes, revealing not just policy preferences but intimate glimpses of their personal lives. To the unwavering crew behind the scenes, you embody the quiet force of civic engagement. My deepest thanks for your devotion and infectious hope. And my loved ones also have my profound gratitude; their support was such a blessing to me as we worked daily on the campaign.
I stepped forward because I believe we needed a voice for the community on the Board of Supervisors. I plan to continue to request that the board’s actions promote transparency and advancement for every portion of our community. This outcome doesn’t close the book on our common purpose; it beckons us to widen our reach, cultivate partnerships, and work together towards our common goals; united we are resilient.
