Library Buzz for Oct. 25 edition

Did you know…

You can pick up and drop off library materials at the Botetourt Family YMCA in Daleville! The library’s self-service station is located conveniently just inside the YMCA facility, open whenever the Y is: currently Mon-Thu 5am-10pm, Fri 5am-9pm, Sat 7:30am-6pm, and Sun 1-6pm. You do not have to be a YMCA member to use this service. Request your materials online (or ask us to help you) and scroll down to select the service point “Daleville Libr@rY” as your pickup location. You can also drop off materials to return there.

Stellaluna: The Musical

Sat, Oct 28, 1-2pm, Eagle Rock

Stellaluna the bat, Verdi the snake, and Pinduli the hyena all seek refreshment at a watering hole, only to find themselves subject to a bullying lion. But by sharing stories about building self-confidence, these three misfit animals find wisdom, peace, and friendship. Based on popular books by Janell Cannon, this delightful musical is a treat for both children and adults. Presented by Mill Mountain Theatre.

 

Spooky Storytelling

Sat, Oct 28, 6-9pm, Troutville Town Park (or YMCA if bad weather)

Great for families! Enjoy spooky stories, bounce house, Halloween games, face painting, crafts, pumpkin painting, and more. Food trucks and a cookie vendor will be onsite, and school-age children get free hot dogs, hamburgers, chips and drinks from the Kiwanis Club of Botetourt. Kid-friendly storytelling begins at 6:00pm, with Victoria Town, Joelle Shenk, and Al Chewning (who will incorporate Botetourt history into his stories). At 8:00pm, Kim Weitkamp will tell extra-scary stories for teens and adults (if you let the kids stay, you have been warned!).
