Share Your Story: Blogging for Regular People

Thursday, September 15, 11:00am-12:00pm, Blue Ridge Library

A blog is a popular way to share stories and opinions online. Anyone can write one, but how? Get hands-on instruction from writer Josh Urban as he walks you through the basics, including setting up a free blog, picking a name, and creating your first post. Space is limited and sign-up is required. Call 540-928-2900 to register.

Norvel Lee Memorial Highway Dedication & Reception

Saturday, September 17t, 1:45-4:00pm, Eagle Rock Library

Celebrate the placement of a historical marker site off Route 220 in honor of Eagle Rock native and Olympic gold winner Norvel Lee. Enjoy light refreshments, meet Lee’s family, chat with Lee’s biographer Ken Conklin, and check out memorabilia in a special reception following the marker dedication.

 

True Crime Book Club

Monday, September 19, 7:00-8:00pm, Blue Ridge Library

Unpack some of the gruesome murders and crimes that have taken place over the centuries. Our first session will highlight a case that hit close to home. This month’s book selection is “Trailed: One Woman’s Quest to Solve the Shenandoah Murders” by Kathryn Miles.

Fincastle Festival Local Author Discussion

The annual Fincastle Festival on September 24 aims to highlight the history of Fincastle and promote today’s artisans, vendors, and business. The library will participate by hosting local authors through a drop-in meet and greet. Featured local authors include: Rachel Edwards, Chuck Finn, Rhonda McDonald, Rebecca Boone, and Suzanne Barron.
