Limestone Park is located along the James River on the southern side of the Town of Buchanan. The park has been a part of the community for almost four decades. In 2017, Limestone Park Ministries became a non-profit 501(c)3 organization and since that time, renovated the pool and made other improvements throughout the park. This year’s priority is to add additional campsites to the park.
As an individual non-profit, the Limestone Park Ministries strives to be more of a community organization and not just a part of one church. The park offers swimming, picnic pavilion, tennis, pickleball (league play on Sunday evenings), play area, river access for fishing and kayaking as well as camping in an alcohol-free and smoke-free family and Christian environment.
Limestone Park is also the home for the Limestone Barracudas swim team. Members and non-members may participate on the swim team.
July 6-10 the park will host Limestone Camp for children grades K-5. This camp, with a Vacation Bible School format, is free. Children will enjoy sports, play time, swimming, crafts and Bible study as well as lunch. Memberships are not required for participation in this camp.
Limestone Park welcomes volunteers. As a 501(c)3, the volunteer hours can be applied to meet requirements under the CCAP program at Virginia Western Community College, National Honor Society and even court ordered community service.
Memberships are available at various levels to meet individual or family needs. The pool is open Memorial Day through Labor Day. Limestone Park is accepting memberships for the 2020 season at a $60 discount through May 10.
