The Dance Centre of Southwest Virginia will present “Beauty and the Beast” Saturday, May 13 at 1 p.m. at the Jefferson Center in downtown Roanoke. A cast of 110 dancers, with beautiful costumes and sets and a very eclectic musical score, are in the ballet. Lead dancers include (from left) Hazel Haggerty of Roanoke, Callaway Turner of Salem, John Bolte of New Castle, Mari Hooper or Roanoke; Nathan Nguyen of Roanoke, Eric McIntyre of Blue Ridge, Olivia Scott of Roanoke and Tiana Ozolins of Blacksburg. “Beauty and the Beast” is an original ballet by Sandra Smeltzer, with additional choreography by Abigail Furry, Samantha Patterson, Tess Post and Pedro Szalay. Tickets are available through the Jefferson Center box office.
