The Lord Botetourt football team had their first scrimmage last week and James River will host a scrimmage this Friday with the fall season fast approaching.

The Cavaliers will play a “zero date” game for the second year in a row to open regular season play. LB will take on Rye Cove High at Emory & Henry University on Saturday, August 22, in a regular season game. That will begin at 7 p.m.

With the early start to the season the Cavaliers already had a preseason scrimmage. Last Saturday the Cavaliers scrimmaged New Kent High School at Hampden-Sydney College. Lord Botetourt will have an intra-squad scrimmage this weekend before opening the season at 5,500-seat Fred Selfe Stadium at Emory & Henry in Emory, Va. Originally built in 1925, it is one of the oldest college football stadiums still in use.
