The Lord Botetourt girls successfully defended their Conference 31 swim championship last Friday night at the Salem YMCA.
The Cavaliers scored 14 points more than second place Rockbridge to take the championship.
“What an amazing meet,” said LB coach Ashley Safarit. “I can honestly say that it was some of the best racing we have ever seen from our team. Every race counts, and we proved that Friday night.”
Lord Botetourt’s Olivia Bray was named the Conference 31 Swimmer of the Year and the LB boys finished second in the meet as the team achieved 37 new personal best times. LB will send 21 of 30 swimmers to the regional meet, including someone in every single individual event and five of six relays.
The regional meet was scheduled for Tuesday night at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center. Scheduled to compete for LB were the following:
