The Blue Ridge District golf tournament was rained out, but not before Lord Botetourt was crowned regular season district champion.
The BRD tournament was scheduled to be played on Monday at the Hanging Rock Golf Club in Roanoke County. However, afternoon storms made it impossible to play and the tournament will not be made up.
The final regular season tournament was held at Blue Hills last week and LB won the round, clinching the regular season championship. Botetourt shot a team score of 309 as Alisa Davidova took medalist honors with a six under par 65. Also scoring for LB were Eli Hall with an 80 and Derek Bond and Jackson Taylor at 82 each.
Second place at Blue Hills went to William Byrd, who was the host team for this round. The Terriers shot 317 followed by Northside at 325, Franklin County at 329 and Staunton River at 361.
With the final round in the books Lord Botetourt won the regular season with a six round total of 1,404, nine strokes better than Northside at 1,413. Northside led the standings by seven strokes going into the last round at Blue Hills, but the Cavaliers finished strong to pass them and take the season title. Byrd and Franklin County tied for third at 1,461 and Staunton River finished at 1,621.
Individually, Ryland Stump of Northside was the individual champion with 134 points. Davidova, who didn’t play every round, still finished second with 120 and Byrd’s David Foster was third with 115. LB’s Cecil was seventh, Bond was 13th and Taylor was 14th. Davidova and Cole were named first team All-Blue Ridge District and Bond made the second team.
LB will now advance to the Region 3D tournament next Monday, September 28, at the Draper Golf Course hosted by Abingdon.
