The two county cross country teams will hit the trail on Thursday in a three-team scrimmage at Greenfield. Alleghany will join Lord Botetourt and James River in the practice meet.

This event was originally scheduled for today, but moved to Thursday due to the anticipated inclement weather. A middle school race kicks things off at 5 p.m.

This Saturday, James River will run in the Viking Invitational at Northside High School. That will begin at 8:45 a.m. with a girls middle school 3K, followed by a boys middle school 3K at 9:30 a.m. The girls varsity race will begin at 10:15 a.m. with the boys to follow at approximately 10:45 a.m. It wraps up with a combined girls and boys jayvee race at 11:30 a.m., and the varsity and jayvee races are both 5K.

Both the Cavaliers and Knights will compete in the annual “Knights Invitational,” hosted by Cave Spring, on Saturday, September 11. That event, at Green Hill Park in Roanoke County, is expected to attract over 80 schools.
