The Lord Botetourt tennis teams swept Franklin County last week with the boys winning 7-2 and girls whitewashing the Eagles, 9-0.
The Botetourt girls remained undefeated in Blue Ridge District play with the win. Elaina Brown, a freshman, played at number six and won 8-0.
“Elaina was very consistent and her serve has seen a lot of improvement,” said LB coach Sam Belcher.
The girls played at Christiansburg last Thursday and took a 6-3 win. Elaina Brown and Kennedy Dorsey won third doubles. Zoe Brown, at second singles, fought hard but lost 8-4.
“It was the best singles she has played this year,” said Belcher. “She faced a very tough opponent and gave great effort.”
The boys also played a strong Christiansburg team and lost 8-1.
Tuesday both teams were scheduled to play Staunton River, but results were too late for publication. On Friday the girls are at William Byrd and the boys will host the Terriers at Hollins University.
