The Lord Botetourt baseball team opened the season with two wins in three games last week, all against schools in high classifications. Class 3 LB played Class 5 Patrick Henry and Class 4 E.C. Glass and Pulaski County.

The Cavs opened with a 10-0 win over the Patriots as Nathan Prince and Garrett Green each had two hits each.  Prince pitched five innings, striking out seven and allowing just two hits and no walks. Colin Sell pitched a scoreless inning to finish up.

A day later in Lynchburg the Cavs fell to host E.C. Glass, 6-2. Owen Prince was two-for-four with a double and two runs batted in. Connor Fuhrman had a hit, was hit by a pitch and walked twice as LB had just three hits as a team.

Nolan Medley started on the mound and went four and two-thirds innings and was tagged with the loss. Jack Vargo and Sell pitched in relief.

LB bounced back Friday with a 14-7 win over Pulaski County as the bats came alive. The Cavs had 15 hits, including a four-for-four day by Nate Prince. Garrett Green was three for three with a double and Vargo got the win on the mound, pitching five innings. Jackson Smith and Green finished up.

The Cavaliers were scheduled to host Glass in a rematch on Tuesday of this week, then take on Brookville today. On Thursday, LB is at Pulaski in the final game before spring break.
