Frances E. “Sue” Markham, 77, of Buchanan, passed away Friday, August 25, 2023 at Carrington Place of Botetourt following a brief illness.
Sue was born in Fincastle April 30, 1946 and was the daughter of the late Otho G. and Eloise Flanagan Markham. She lived in Buchanan for the past 21 years.
Sue enjoyed animals and especially was a cat lover. She played bingo and board games, and avidly explored yard sales and thrift stores.
Sue is survived by her husband of 23 years, Steven Lawhorn; daughter, Angie (Garnett) Wilburn of Troutville; step-son, Andrew (Andrea) Lawhorn of Bulls Gap, Tennessee; brothers: Otho (Nancy) Markham of Vero Beach, Florida, and Tim (Deena) Markham of Buckeye, Arizona; five nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Sue’s life will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 30, at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road, Daleville with Pastor David O’Dell officiating. Burial will be in Old Dominion Memorial Gardens. The family received friends at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Tuesday.
