Botetourt County Public Schools (BCPS) has named Kristy Martin principal of Eagle Rock Elementary School, effective July 1.
Martin brings 16 years of experience in education to the position. She currently serves as an assistant principal at Greenfield Elementary School and has previously worked as a special education teacher. School officials said her experience includes instructional leadership, student advocacy, and fostering supportive learning environments.
“Mrs. Martin is a dedicated educator and leader who has consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to student success and the well-being of our school community,” Superintendent Dr. Janet Womack said in a news release.
A graduate of Botetourt County Public Schools, Martin earned a bachelor’s degree in social work from Radford University and a master’s degree in education from James Madison University. She has also served in an educational leadership role in Roanoke City Public Schools.
“A school is more than a building—it is a community built on relationships, trust and shared memories,” Martin said. “I am excited to step into this role, listen, learn, and become part of the Eagle Rock community.”
Martin succeeds to the principalship at Eagle Rock Elementary as the school division prepares for the 2026-27 academic year. Her appointment becomes effective July 1.
